Social network analysis of actors involved in adaptation planning
This intervention involved performing a network analysis of the social actors involved, or potentially involved, in climate change adaptation within the Orotay River basin (Colombia). Social network analysis (SNA) is a strategy for investigating social structures through the use of network and graph theories. It characterizes networked structures in terms of nodes (individual actors, people, or things within the network) and the ties or edges (relationships or interactions) that connect them. This network analysis served to identify the needs, interests and influence of each actor within the community. Considering how actors related to one another is useful in creating a climate change adaptation plan, particularly when it concerns changes in the quality and quantity of natural resources, such as water.
